Two is the classic rotation — a pair of cheap goalkeepers or defenders who rarely have a hard week at the same time. Adding a third or fourth widens your choice each gameweek but ties up more budget and bench space, so the gain per pound usually falls after the second player.
Each cell is a fixture difficulty rating for that club in that gameweek. Official FPL FDR is a fixed 1–5 scale; xFDR is our own model, built from bookmaker prices and results so far, with separate readings for clean-sheet and attacking potential. The recommended start is simply the easiest fixture available that week.
In “By player” mode the planner only shows players in the same position within the price band you set of your chosen player, so every suggestion is a realistic swap rather than a premium upgrade.
A kind fixture is not a guarantee. Rotation only pays off if both players actually start, so check availability, recent minutes and injury news before committing. Fixture ratings beyond the next few weeks are forecasts and will move as form changes.
